TREASURER’S OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENT

The Rice County Treasurer’s Office is concerned about the impact 2019-NCOV (Coronavirus) has on how we serve the public.  I encourage citizens to renew online or to mail renewals.
This month those with last names starting with ‘B’ have tags that will expire on March 31.  We encourage you to renew at your earliest convenience.  Access to staff for renewal at the end of the month is normally limited.
We want to do our part in keeping our staff healthy as well as doing our part in serving the community.  I am cognizant of your needs and we will continue to serve you the very best we can.
Please call the office if you have any questions at 620-257-2852.  An answering machine is available when staff is with customers.

 Sincerely,

Rita Smith

The Rice County Treasurer’s Office is an agent for the State of Kansas for registering and titling motor vehicles and renewing driver’s licenses.
The second major function of the Treasurer’s Office is the collection of property tax on real estate, business, other personal property, and intangibles.
The third major function of the office is as “County Banker.” All monies that are due to the County are remitted to our office, and we are in charge of the investments while the money is the responsibility of the County.  During the year, we are required to disburse the money to the various taxing units (city, school districts, etc.) for their use.
